Reading Between the Lines: Unlocking Nonverbal Strategies.
Master full-spectrum communication to read involuntary facial responses, improve community relationships, and strengthen safety, investigative, and courtroom outcomes.
Course Overview
Just as nystagmus is the involuntary jerking of the eye, microexpressions are the involuntary facial expressions that expose a person’s true, split-second emotions. In roadside stops, field interviews, and testimony, critical clues and indirect admissions often go unnoticed—not by choice, but because nonverbal signals are easy to miss without trained recognition.
This workshop, tailored for the group size and needs of attendees, introduces criminal justice professionals to full-spectrum, optimized communication, focusing on nonverbal body language and subtle emotional cues. Grounded in social-science research and backed by real-world video exemplars, participants learn how to read nonverbal signals in others and consciously adapt their own body language to overcome roadblocks, build rapport, de-escalate situations, further investigations, and improve relationships.
